Topshop, once a High Street staple, has sparked excitement on social media with a cryptic post teasing a big announcement, stating: “We’ve Missed You Too.”
The retail giant, owned by Arcadia Group, closed all of its stores in 2020. In 2021, it was acquired by ASOS, which began selling the remaining stock on its website.
On the evening of March 18, Topshop shared three videos on its Instagram page hinting at big news. Each clip features two models standing on a rooftop beneath a Topshop sign, with captions that collectively read: “WE’VE BEEN LISTENING.”
One of the videos, captioned “We’ve Missed You Too,” was also shared as a story.
Fans quickly took to the comments, sharing their excitement. One user wrote, “I feel like my parents just got back together.” Another added, “Millennials everywhere are screaming, crying & throwing up… I’m one of them.” A third joked, “My wardrobe and my life just fell back into place. Might start going out again.”
Topshop, which first launched in the 1960s, opened its flagship store on Oxford Circus in 1992. After the Arcadia Group went into administration in 2020 due to the pandemic’s impact on sales, ASOS acquired the brand in February 2021, continuing to sell its clothing online.
The iconic Oxford Street store was sold to IKEA for £378 million. At its height, Topshop boasted over 500 outlets worldwide, with 300 in the UK alone.
Topshop, along with its male counterpart Topman, was immensely popular, and the potential return to High Streets indicates the brand’s lasting appeal.
