British fashion brand Paul Smith held its first fashion show in Tokyo in 14 years on Wednesday, marking a special event during the Tokyo Collection.
The 78-year-old designer, Paul Smith, made a memorable appearance at the end of the show, receiving a warm reception from the audience. This was Smith’s first fashion show in Tokyo since a show held approximately six months after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
The event took place at the Hyokeikan building of the Tokyo National Museum in Taito Ward, Tokyo, where Smith presented a shirt featuring a Japanese orchid design from the brand’s fall/winter 2025-2026 collection.
In an interview before the show with The Yomiuri Shimbun, Smith expressed his desire to share his love for Japan through his clothing designs.
The show was made possible through “by R,” a project sponsored by Rakuten, the main sponsor of the Tokyo Collection, aimed at promoting the Japanese fashion industry by bringing renowned international brands to Japan.
