A leading British fashion brand has revealed plans to open its first-ever store in Greater Manchester next month.
Crew Clothing, established in 1993, will debut a new 1200 sqft store in Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter in April. Located in the former Altrincham FC store on George Street, the shop will offer a wide range of menswear and womenswear options.
Starting its journey in the back of a windsurfing shop in Salcombe, Devon, the brand has expanded to include styles such as heritage rugby shirts, relaxed tailoring, and the classic Breton stripe. It has also collaborated with well-known names such as the Lawn Tennis Association, Henley Royal Regatta, The Red Roses, and Exeter Chiefs.
While Crew Clothing also operates two outlet stores at Quayside at Media City in Salford Quays and Cheshire Oaks, the nearest store outside Greater Manchester is in Wilmslow, which opened in 2011 on Water Lane.
Set to open on April 10, the new Altrincham store aims to bring a coastal feel to the city-borough and will feature Crew’s latest SS25 collection, available for purchase in-store.
Naomi Parry, Crew Clothing’s Head of Marketing, said: “It’s an exciting time for the brand as we continue to expand our retail presence with the opening of our Stamford Quarter store. We’re thrilled to welcome both new and returning customers, including those who may have visited us at our nearby Wilmslow location.”
To celebrate the grand opening on April 10, the first customers in line will receive exclusive gifts. The first 20 customers will receive gift cards, and one lucky shopper will win a £100 gift card, a special gift with purchases over £75, and a “sip while you shop” experience featuring English sparkling wine from Nyetimber.
The new store will also create 10 local jobs, joining a mix of independent and national brands at Stamford Quarter, including Mountain Warehouse, Parasol, Utility, Holland Barrett, Gift & Home, Next, Boots, Flannels, Sostrene Grene, and Nationwide.
James Tootle, Bruntwood’s Head of Retail & Leisure, commented: “Crew Clothing is an excellent addition to Stamford Quarter’s vibrant retail mix. This marks the brand’s first venture into Greater Manchester, underscoring the area’s significance as a top retail destination.”
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, added: “It’s fantastic news that Crew Clothing’s first Greater Manchester store will be opening in Stamford Quarter, alongside many other great brands and independent shops. This addition highlights Altrincham’s growing reputation as a premier shopping destination.”
Earlier this year, Crew Clothing announced plans to invest in high streets across the UK, with at least 20 new stores expected to open in 2025, driven by strong growth leading up to Christmas. The retailer reported a 45% sales surge in the two weeks leading to December 24, with store sales up by 22%. In 2024, it opened 15 new locations.
Crew Clothing’s new store will officially open on Thursday, April 10, at Stamford Quarter in Altrincham.
