Seasalt, a clothing brand with over 70 stores across the UK and Ireland, has announced that it is considering a range of redundancies, according to reports.
The Cornwall-based company is reportedly planning the job cuts to secure its future, citing the increased tax burdens following the Chancellor’s recent budget. While the exact number of job losses has not been confirmed, some reports suggest that around 100 roles may be affected.
Founded by Don Chadwick in Cornwall four decades ago, Seasalt is a multichannel retailer with 73 stores, a robust online presence, and hundreds of stockists across the UK and Europe. The brand also partners with M&S, Next, QVC, and Zalando, and ships to a growing global customer base.
Seasalt, which remains under the ownership of the Chadwick family, is one of the largest employers in Cornwall, with 1,287 staff members.
This announcement comes despite the company reporting strong performance in its latest financial year, with both revenue and operating profit showing growth.
Seasalt has been approached for comment.
