Anthony Vaccarello, the creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, closed out Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday with a runway collection featuring evening-ready minidresses in vibrant colors and bold, voluminous gowns. The show, which took place near the Eiffel Tower after dark, immersed the audience in a modern atmosphere with dark leather seating surrounded by glowing pink walls adorned with marbled, mineral patterns.
The first model appeared in striking marigold-orange, short dress with wide sleeves and a high collar, paired with towering sling-back heels. The silhouette was broad-shouldered with a structured shape, followed by similar designs in hues such as fuchsia, teal, and yellow.
The Kering-owned label explained that the collection’s focus was on fabric and precise construction, rather than embellishments or padding. The show took an unexpected turn when the emphasis on volume shifted below the waist. A series of silky slip dresses then appeared, ballooning into large, rounded forms that gracefully floated down the runway. Other striking pieces included sleek, transparent dresses in lightweight silicone fabric, featuring leopard and floral prints. Supermodel Bella Hadid wowed the audience in a stretchy, blue lace dress.
Earlier in the day, Chanel’s fall-winter collection also dazzled the audience at the Grand Palais, under its impressive glass-and-steel dome. The runway featured tailored tweed suits and flowing dresses, with black bows adding decorative flair to the designs.
The show began with monochrome tweed suits, paired with mini-skirts or shorts, some topped with sheer dresses or skirts. Extra ruffles at the hem added drama to the looks. Black bows were a recurring motif throughout, adorning necklines, hair, hats, skirts, and even thick-heeled boots.
Paris Fashion Week, which wrapped up on Tuesday, showcased collections from some of the world’s most renowned brands, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Hermes, as well as Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham.
