Tennis icon Serena Williams has ventured into the world of children’s fashion, designing a limited-edition collection in collaboration with the popular kidswear brand Janie and Jack.
The partnership was inspired by Williams’ own daughters, Olympia, 7, and Adira, 18 months, after she shared photos of them wearing Janie and Jack outfits on social media. This connection led to the creation of a 35-piece spring collection for children up to 12 years old, including two matching “mommy-and-me” styles and a special recreation of Williams’ own childhood tennis outfit.
Reflecting on the project, the retired tennis star admitted she initially felt some hesitation. “I was really nervous about it,” Williams shared with WWD. “They have a wonderful team and an amazing designer who guided me through the process, which made it so much easier. It was such a cool experience.”
Serena also revealed that she consulted her daughter Olympia during the final design phase. “I actually asked her opinion when we were narrowing down the collection. Thankfully, she picked the same one I liked best,” the 43-year-old added.
Williams’ passion for fashion runs deep—she studied at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale from 2000 to 2003 before launching her own clothing brand, S by Serena, in 2018. Despite her vast experience, she found designing for children to be a new and exciting challenge.
“At first, I was really nervous about it,” she admitted to WWD. “I’ve done women’s fashion, but designing for children is a whole different ball game. But the team at Janie and Jack made the process so smooth, and my girls love the collection, which makes it even more special.”
With 35 stylish spring pieces available for kids up to 12 years old, the Serena Williams x Janie and Jack collection brings together timeless fashion with a touch of childhood nostalgia and sporty elegance.
