Emerging Designers Shine at Moscow Fashion Week

From March 13 to 18, Moscow will once again take center stage as it hosts Moscow Fashion Week, a prestigious event dedicated to showcasing new and promising fashion talent. Known for its role in introducing fresh designers from emerging regions, the event offers a significant platform for brands to make a lasting impact on the industry. This season, the spotlight will be on Asian fashion labels alongside a diverse range of Russian and international brands gracing the runways.

For Chinese designer Li Ying, the opportunity to participate in Moscow Fashion Week is a crucial step in expanding her brand’s presence in Russia. “Participation in Moscow Fashion Week is, I think, a great start for the development of my brand in Russia—and I am happy to have been given this opportunity,” she shared.

Reflecting on the deepening relationship between China and Russia, Ying highlighted the rapid growth of the Chinese textile industry and the increasing presence of Chinese fashion brands in the Russian market. “This not only fosters cultural exchange but also demonstrates how Chinese brands are expanding their reach internationally,” she noted.

Indonesian designer Syukriah Rusydi, founder of the brand REBORN29, sees Moscow Fashion Week as a pivotal moment for global expansion. “I decided to participate in Moscow Fashion Week to introduce REBORN29 to the Russian market and strengthen our international presence. Russia has a growing fashion industry with a keen interest in modest fashion, unique designs, and cultural storytelling combined with sustainability,” Rusydi shared.

REBORN29’s commitment to eco-friendly fashion aligns with Moscow Fashion Week’s focus on sustainability, which promotes environmentally conscious design and supports emerging markets in tackling ecological challenges.

Beyond the runway, attendees can expect an engaging program that includes a designer market and the World Fashion Shorts Film Festival. The festival will feature films by directors from the Philippines, Argentina, the United States, and Russia, celebrating cross-cultural creativity. This diverse mix of events fosters collaboration and provides a broader platform for new voices in the fashion industry.

Moscow Fashion Week will also showcase a wide range of brands from Russia and beyond, including designers from South Africa, Spain, Armenia, Tajikistan, and the United States. Among the highly anticipated Russian labels is UNKE, a brand inspired by nature that transcends conventional trends. Also taking center stage is CAPPAREL, known for creating timeless, uniquely designed clothing meant to remain stylish for multiple seasons.

This March, a total of 180 brands—including a strong contingent from Asia—will converge in Moscow to unveil their latest collections to a global audience. With its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration, Moscow Fashion Week continues to establish itself as a powerful platform for emerging designers. As the new season unfolds, the event is set to captivate fashion experts, renowned journalists, and global audiences alike, further cementing its role as a key player in the fashion industry.
