Adidas has officially parted ways with YEEZY, successfully clearing all remaining inventory and marking the end of its partnership with Kanye West (now known as Ye).
According to Reuters, Adidas announced on Wednesday that it has completed the final phase of clearing YEEZY sneaker stock, officially closing a once highly lucrative collaboration. The brand confirmed that the last pair of YEEZY was sold by the end of 2024, symbolizing a new chapter for Adidas after the controversy. This decision is particularly significant, as the company has been working to move on since severing ties with Ye in October 2022, a breakup accelerated by his antisemitic remarks.
In a recent financial report meeting, Adidas’ Chief Financial Officer Harm Ohlmeyer stated, “We have now sold the last pair of YEEZY.” However, the impact of ending the partnership is still evident, particularly in the U.S. market. Sales data from 2024 show that Adidas’ North American revenue dropped by 2%, primarily due to the sharp decline in YEEZY sales.
Despite the challenges, clearing out the YEEZY inventory has generated substantial revenue for Adidas. Reports indicate that YEEZY sales in 2023 reached €200 million, while unsold inventory from 2022 contributed €300 million in operating profit. Notably, Adidas had previously pledged to allocate €260 million from 2023 and 2024 YEEZY sales to charities fighting antisemitism, aiming to mitigate public backlash and improve its brand image.
