Celtic supporters have voiced their frustration over the high prices of the club’s latest apparel collection, which was launched today to honor the Hoops’ deep Irish heritage.
Kit manufacturer Adidas unveiled the new range, with Ireland international Adam Idah featured prominently in the campaign.
The collection includes three items:
- A t-shirt priced at €94.95
- Tracksuit bottoms at €73.95
- A bomber jacket costing €136.95
Fans looking to purchase the full set will need to spend a staggering €305.85, which has led to a wave of backlash on social media.
Supporters took to Facebook to criticize the cost, calling it unfair and excessive:
“The powers that be should ensure that merchandise is kept at a fair price.”
“You should be doing something to keep costs down for supporters. £70 is already steep, but charging £90 is totally unacceptable.”
“Absolutely trying to rinse fans here. £90 for that is brutal.”
“As a lifelong Celtic supporter, it looks like a nice top, but at £90, it’s a rip-off.”
“Can’t believe the price of that t-shirt! Won’t be buying it.”
“Nice gear, but the price is an insult to fans—way too expensive.”
In announcing the launch, Celtic FC emphasized that the collection was designed to celebrate the club’s Irish history and strong connection with Ireland.
“Celtic FC are proud to unveil the brand new adidas Originals Irish Origins collection today, a range that celebrates both the club’s Irish roots and the modern-day connection to the Emerald Isle.”
The club encouraged fans to mark St Patrick’s Day by picking up items from the collection, which features bold clover designs.
The jersey includes a lenticular badge that switches between a three- and four-leaf clover as the wearer moves.
The black and green bomber jacket showcases the club crest on one side, the Adidas trefoil logo on the other, and a clover design on the back.
“With countless Irish supporters showing their passion and dedication to the club throughout the years, it’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the close connection between Celtic and Ireland.”
The statement also acknowledged the long history of Irish fans traveling across the sea to support the team, reaffirming the club’s commitment to strengthening this relationship.
