New York Fashion Week for Fall – Winter 2025 is set to open with a bang as Marc Jacobs takes the spotlight. He’ll be presenting a see – now – buy Spring 2025 collection at the New York Public Library, an event sure to generate significant buzz. In his design note for his previous major show, Jacobs penned, “I believe in living with sincerity – not validated and permitted by absurd conservatism and social norms.” In a world that has, in the meantime, become even more absurd, one of the key points of interest will be to see whether designers incorporate or overlook the new reality of the United States in their works.
Another question on everyone’s lips is: What would a Calvin Klein creation look like with a Veronica Leoni touch? And which up – and – coming brands will manage to stand out during this week? Also, there’s curiosity about what Kendrick will wear to the Super Cup. Read on for our expert insights.
Calvin Klein has had an interesting design journey with Francisco Costa and Raf Simons at the helm. Costa steered the brand towards a more conceptual and avant – garde direction, while Simons launched a series in September 7 inspired by movies like Jaws and The Graduate. Now, Veronica Leoni is set to make her mark on the brand. Her Calvin Klein debut on Feb. 2 will also mark the American label’s long – awaited return to New York Fashion Week after a six – and – a – half – year hiatus.
Leoni, with her experience at esteemed labels such as Jil Sander, Phoebe Philo’s Céline, and The Row, is likely to bring an aesthetic that harks back to the founder’s roots. Her style is expected to be one of efficient and sensual minimalism, designed for the practicalities of real life. When she was hired, Leoni stated, “Calvin Klein has been a bold self – expression for decades, and I want to take it even further through strong style and creativity.” Regardless of how her collection turns out, having such a heavyweight designer return to the fashion week stage is truly thrilling.
