Yamaha has officially parted ways with Valentino Rossi’s VR46 clothing line as of 2025. This marks a subtle shift in their relationship with the MotoGP legend, whose name has long been intertwined with the iconic motorcycle manufacturer.
Until this year, Yamaha’s MotoGP team sported apparel produced by Rossi’s VR46 brand. However, Yamaha has now partnered with the Italian company Macron for their official team clothing.
When asked about the move, Yamaha team manager Maio Meregalli dismissed the notion that the change symbolized a deliberate break from the past. Speaking to GPOne, Meregalli clarified:
“It is a consequence, but not because of the clothing. The negotiations with the new supplier started much earlier.”
Additionally, Yamaha and VR46 will no longer collaborate on Moto2 efforts. Responsibility for the Moto2 team will transition to Pramac, who is shifting allegiance from Ducati to Yamaha. Meregalli elaborated:
“The Moto2 was run by a division of Yamaha that was not the one managing MotoGP and was then given to VR46. Now there has been a change of direction. The MotoGP structure will oversee it, and it will be entrusted to Pramac.”
Despite these adjustments, Rossi’s personal role with Yamaha remains unchanged, as he continues to serve as an official ambassador.
Meanwhile, Rossi’s VR46 MotoGP team is deepening its ties with Ducati. With Pramac moving to Yamaha, VR46 is positioned to benefit significantly, becoming Ducati’s primary satellite team. This year, the team will have access to a factory-spec bike, offering a competitive edge.
Rider Fabio Di Giannantonio is set to compete on the same machinery as Ducati factory stars Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, reinforcing VR46’s growing prominence within the MotoGP landscape.
