In celebration of London Fashion Week, Jumeirah Carlton Tower is thrilled to showcase the essence of fashion, culture, and 1960s style with a vintage Mary Quant dress displayed in the hotel lobby from Monday, 3rd February to Friday, 28th February. This exhibition harkens back to the era of ‘Swinging London’ when the iconic fashion designer hosted photoshoots, press days, and collection launches at the newly opened Jumeirah Carlton Tower. The display, commemorating 60 years of the miniskirt, underscores the fusion of high fashion and luxury hospitality, offering guests a rare look into the transformative period of British fashion.
Dame Mary Quant, renowned for her bold and innovative designs, revolutionized 1960s fashion with her vibrant, youthful creations. As a leading figure of the Swinging Sixties, she introduced some of the era’s most iconic trends, from the miniskirt to pop art-inspired patterns, leaving a lasting impact on global women’s fashion and culture. The vintage dress on display at Jumeirah Carlton Tower serves as an exquisite example of her work, offering a nostalgic journey that reflects the groundbreaking spirit of British fashion.
Alongside the dress, the hotel lobby will feature a vibrant floral installation by the renowned Moyses Stevens, designed to complement the dress’s color palette and playful patterns. Guests with a sweet tooth can indulge in a limited-edition dessert (£18.00) crafted by the hotel’s talented chefs. This treat combines vanilla and tonka, almond sponge, exotic fruit cream, and decorative white chocolate flowers in purple and orange hues, evoking a sense of youthful delight that will surprise even the most seasoned guests.
To enhance the experience further, Jumeirah Carlton Tower’s restaurant, La Maison Ani, led by Chef Izu, will introduce a unique cocktail. Bar Manager Matteo Corsalini has created a bespoke drink, The Modette, inspired by the purple and orange design of the dress. This sophisticated cocktail blends Champagne, blue pea tea cordial, Crème De Violette, King’s ginger liqueur, British N3 Gin, lemon juice, and vegan foamer. Priced at £18.00, The Modette will be available from Monday, 3rd February to Friday, 28th February, offering guests the perfect drink to enjoy in the chic surroundings.
The vintage Mary Quant dress will remain on display until the end of London Fashion Week, providing a unique opportunity to engage with the rich history of British fashion.
