A sustainable clothing brand, Roots, is inviting young creatives to submit artwork inspired by Dartmoor, offering a chance for their designs to feature on an eco-friendly T-shirt.
Roots, known for its commitment to sustainable fashion, is seeking submissions from individuals aged six to 18. The submissions can include artwork, photography, digital designs, and multimedia pieces.
The Dartmoor Preservation Association expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating:
“We look forward to sharing more details on the art and design competition aspect soon. This is a really positive opportunity to work with the Dartmoor community and create unique wearable art with purpose.”
In addition to introducing the new T-shirt, Roots and the Dartmoor Preservation Association will collaborate on a multimedia campaign. This project will explore how young people connect with Dartmoor, aiming to strengthen their relationship with the unique landscape.
The initiative ties into the award-winning Girls Do Dartmoor programme, led by Kats Koster-Shadbolt. This youth access programme has already empowered 70 young women by providing them with skills and confidence to explore and appreciate nature.
Profits from the T-shirt sales will directly fund the Girls Do Dartmoor programme. The Dartmoor Preservation Association shared their enthusiasm about partnering with Roots:
“Roots feels like the perfect group to work with for this collaboration. The company is made up of passionate 15-16-year-old students dedicated to making a positive impact through sustainable fashion. What started as a business studies project has grown into a meaningful venture.”
Roots is committed to designing and selling stylish, eco-conscious clothing while supporting charitable and environmental causes. Their efforts align perfectly with the goals of the Dartmoor Preservation Association.
Details about the competition will be announced soon, and Roots is encouraging young people to participate.
“As the moor’s mists part to reveal new horizons, we invite you to be part of this journey. Your art could be the thread that weaves Dartmoor’s spirit into clothing, with all profits supporting the incredible work of the Dartmoor Preservation Association,” said a Roots spokesperson.
This collaboration exemplifies how creativity, community, and sustainability can come together to make a difference.
