Todd Snyder to Return to the Runway at New York Fashion Week

by Demos

Todd Snyder is ready to make another runway appearance. The menswear designer will return to New York Fashion Week for the second consecutive season in February to present his fall collection.

The show is scheduled for February 6 at 3:00 PM, coinciding with the unofficial menswear day of NYFW. It will take place at the Academy Mansion on East 63rd Street. On the same day, New York Men’s Day, which highlights emerging designers, will also be held.

After a four-and-a-half-year hiatus, Snyder made his return to NYFW last September with an intimate, salon-style show at Le Rock restaurant in Rockefeller Center. His desire for the runway was reignited when he was invited to be a guest designer at Pitti Uomo in Florence in January 2024. There, he presented a show to 800 guests at the historic Stazione Leopolda, the city’s first train station, which opened in 1848.

“After doing the show at Pitti a year ago, it got me back into the process and the discipline that comes with preparing for a show,” Snyder said. “It’s tough, but that’s what fashion is about—focusing on what inspires me and taking more risks.”

Between 2020 and 2024, Snyder focused on growing his business, which is exclusively direct-to-consumer. “Since 2020, our business has more than doubled, which made me question if we even needed shows,” he explained. He redirected his focus to developing more commercial products to drive sales but admitted it didn’t spark as much creativity.

However, his experience at Pitti reignited his passion for fashion. “It made me reflect on why I got into fashion,” he said. “I wasn’t focused on what would sell, but what’s next. It pushed me creatively.”

Snyder also sees runway shows during fashion week as a way to stay visible with retailers. While his brand isn’t currently wholesaled, he expects that to change in the next two years. By mid-2025, Snyder plans to have 25 stores across the country.

For his upcoming February show, Snyder said it will be larger than the Le Rock presentation but smaller than the expansive Pitti show, with around 40-45 looks. He chose the Academy Mansion as the venue because it “looks like a Parisian or New York prep school,” which ties in with the season’s theme inspired by school uniforms. “It’s a perfect setting to express the collection,” he added.
