Eleven Percent Streetwear, in collaboration with the local non-profit Protecting the Rise, has teamed up with Meatings BBQ to provide warm meals and clothing to Ottawa’s homeless community. The charity event will take place today from 1-3 p.m. in the Byward Market, next to ScotiaBank on Rideau Street, according to Darwin Campbell, founder of Eleven Percent Streetwear.
“We’ll be distributing donations we’ve collected throughout the year, offering hot meals and warm clothes to those in need,” Campbell shared.
Eleven Percent Streetwear is committed to improving the lives of homeless individuals across Canada. As noted on their website, the brand recognizes the serious risks of winter, such as hypothermia and frostbite, and aims to provide crucial winter gear to those in need.
While this Christmas Eve event marks the third year of the initiative, Campbell emphasized that the brand holds similar events throughout the year to support the homeless community.
“Through every sale, 11 percent of our profits go toward producing and distributing warm winter gear and care packages throughout the year,” Campbell explained.
With 11 percent of their profits dedicated to helping Canada’s homeless population, the company encourages the community to join in their efforts.
Today, around six to seven volunteers, along with additional support from Protecting the Rise, will help distribute clothing and meals. After the event, any leftover food will be donated to a local shelter, Campbell noted.
“We collect clothing donations from local people that would otherwise go to Value Village, and get those directly to individuals on the streets,” he added.
So far this year, the team has gathered around 20-30 garbage bags full of clothing donations. They aim to serve between 200 and 400 people at each event, with the same goal for today’s Christmas Eve gathering.

Additionally, the brand has released a new clothing line in collaboration with Meatings BBQ, which is available for purchase on their website. “100% of the proceeds will be used to make meals for the Christmas Eve event, helping us feed as many people as possible,” Eleven Percent Streetwear shared on Instagram.
