On Tuesday afternoon, September 24, 2024, the 1880 Grille was filled to capacity for the annual fashion show luncheon fundraiser hosted by Mesquite Toes. The event drew 110 enthusiastic attendees who enjoyed an afternoon of food, fashion, and lively entertainment.

The fashion show featured a variety of outfits modeled by local personalities, including Brenda Mangus, Carol Haris, Debby Wasky, and others. The models paraded around the room, showcasing styles that ranged from casual golf attire to elegant evening wear. Male models added a playful touch, entertaining the crowd with their spirited performances. Norm Utley, dressed in a flashy ensemble from his wife’s shop, Alt Om Bling, joined in the fun, captivating the audience.

The fashions were sourced from local businesses, including Alt Om Bling, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Falcon Ridge Golf Course, His & Hers Fashions, J.S. Merchant Gift Shop, Juniper Outpost, and The Boutique at Stephen’s Hair. First-time attendee Bernie Jones expressed surprise at the range of clothing options available in the community, stating, “I am impressed. I didn’t know of all these merchants in town that carried clothing.”

Upon arrival, guests enjoyed music from the Fusion Trio while sipping cocktails and admiring 15 raffle baskets. Mesquite Toes Board President Cherie Kemp noted, “Proceeds from the raffle baskets make up the majority of our profit at this event.”

The show kicked off with a lively performance by the Mesquite Toes Jazz team, featuring Brenda Mangus, Tracy Bybee, and Cherie Kemp, who entertained the crowd with the song “American Kids.”

Table centerpieces, designed by Jean Archibald, fit the theme “All Dolled UP” and featured vintage Barbie dolls, which were sold at the end of the event.

Co-chairwomen Norma Rife and Kathryn Web organized the successful event. Over the years, Mesquite Toes has shown that they can do more than just dance; their fashion show tickets are highly sought after and often sell out quickly.

Kemp emphasized the impact of the fundraiser, stating, “Proceeds go to our costume fund and performances, as well as funding for our community events and outreach to other worthy causes in the Mesquite community.”
