Debenhams, once a dominant force in the UK department store scene, has embraced its heritage with the launch of a new fashion collection. The line, named Runway London 1.8.1.8, honors the brand’s long history, dating back to 1818 when the first store opened. This exclusive collection, available only online through the Debenhams website, features 40 pieces blending historical elegance with modern design.
The collection is described as offering a “striking fusion” of classic and contemporary fashion trends. It includes wearable, unique items that aim to redefine any wardrobe with a fresh and creative perspective. With runway-inspired pieces, the collection blends flowing bohemian styles with sharp tailoring, creating a mix of Debenhams’ craftsmanship and today’s trends.
The range covers clothing, accessories, and footwear, and includes standout items like pussy bow blouses, crochet skirts, pointed slingback heels, and lace-cut-out dresses, perfect for the winter party season.
Dan Finley, CEO of Debenhams, said the collection is a tribute to the store’s rich history as a renowned British retailer.
Since being acquired by Boohoo Group for £55 million in January 2021, Debenhams has shifted to an online-only model after closing all its physical stores. Finley, a former JD Sports Fashion executive, was appointed CEO a year after the acquisition. This year, Debenhams has been active with initiatives like the return of Designers at Debenhams, signaling the brand’s commitment to innovation and heritage.
