American designer Tory Burch presented her latest collection at New York Fashion Week on Monday, blending the spirit of sport with high fashion while steering clear of traditional sportswear.
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection emphasized freedom and movement, with loose-fitting wool pants and flowing wrap dresses taking center stage. Power was expressed through the careful combination of various fabrics, cuts, and textures as models walked the runway.
“It’s more about the spirit and the essence of sport,” Burch explained to Agence France-Presse, clarifying the inspiration behind the collection. She emphasized that the theme revolved around “movement, freedom, and precision” and noted that the concept of “synchronicity” played a key role in shaping her vision.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of her fashion house this year, Burch said she wanted to avoid overwhelming the collection with excessive prints. Instead, she aimed to highlight the textures, fabrics, and colors. Among the standout looks was an ensemble featuring ultra-light suede pants cinched with a rope belt, paired with a red and white patterned, form-fitting sweater. Another striking outfit included a transparent white jersey shirt with ruffles and long sleeves, matched with tailored brown wool pants.
Known for her signature blend of preppy New England style with bohemian influences, Burch once again shifted from her usual aesthetic in this collection. The show took place in the dramatic setting of the former Domino Sugar Factory in Brooklyn, offering a panoramic view of Manhattan.
In attendance were notable figures such as Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, along with actresses Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Olsen, and Kristen Stewart. Reflecting on her journey, Burch said, “I want to keep evolving and taking things in new directions, but I also believe in maintaining a sense of continuity.”
