Qasimi Rising, the talent incubation initiative of the London-based fashion label founded by Khalid Al Qasimi, is expanding its reach to Africa through a new partnership with Lagos Fashion Week.

The collaboration will spotlight emerging African designers and creatives. Qasimi Rising will assist Lagos Fashion Week in selecting these talents and offer them a spot in the 2026 incubation program. The selected designers will receive three years of funding and an additional seven years of mentorship. This includes access to Qasimi’s coworking space, studio, and expert support in production, product development, marketing, and business functions.

Designers will also have the chance to showcase their work and participate in workshops with Qasimi Rising mentors and press during Lagos Fashion Week in October.

Hoor Al Qasimi, founder of Qasimi Rising and twin sister to the late brand founder, emphasized the commitment to fostering a vibrant fashion community across Africa and globally. She stated, “Our partnership with Lagos Fashion Week reflects our dedication to nurturing local talent and providing a pathway to international recognition.”

Omoyemi Akerele, founder and executive director of Lagos Fashion Week, will act as a regional ambassador and advisor for Qasimi Rising. Her expertise will help emerging designers navigate the local fashion industry.

Akerele remarked, “This partnership will empower designers and set them on a successful path.” The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between local talent and global recognition, marking a new era for African fashion with a focus on innovation, creativity, and mentorship.

In its inaugural edition last year, Qasimi Rising selected emerging designers Omer Asim from Sudan and Salim Azzam from Lebanon. Their work was showcased at Qasimi’s spring 2024 presentation in London.
