The Luna Maria fashion show showcased the capstone projects of six senior students. Each project highlighted unique design perspectives and cultural influences. One senior crafted a hand-embroidered baby blessing dress, while another created three dresses inspired by ancestral homelands. Another student incorporated her Asian heritage into her designs, featuring bold red, black, and white garments.
In addition to these capstone projects, the fashion show included pieces from ten different apparel design classes:

Fitting and Alterations

Among the standout categories were Children’s Apparel and Fashion History, which were favorites among attendees. “Little people and little things make me happy,” said Morgan Thrasher, a junior studying communication.
The show also highlighted some creative and unique designs. For instance, the only student from the Home Decor class turned a quilt into a dress. The event’s theme, Luna Maria, was chosen to align with the show’s date, July 20, marking the 55th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Several students went the extra mile with their presentations. Kiera Hockman, from the Fitting and Alterations class, matched her blue butterfly-themed dress with butterfly eye makeup.
In addition to the apparel designs, students from the Food Service Management and Science of Meal Management programs provided space-themed snacks. These included green and purple galaxy crepes, Earth-shaped cookies, star-shaped crackers, and other celestial treats.
