Although suiting for women is hardly a new concept—with historic moments like Yves Saint Laurent’s groundbreaking Le Smoking and Giorgio Armani’s relaxed tailoring redefining eveningwear for women—L.B.M. 1911 brings a fresh perspective rooted in its deep menswear expertise. The Italian brand, a fixture at Pitti Uomo, has cultivated a loyal following over the past 20 years, a foundation that Style Director Giovanni Bianchi saw as the perfect platform for expansion.
“After 20 years of developing the men’s collection, it was essential to leverage our expertise to establish a women’s line,” Bianchi told Robb Report. The idea wasn’t solely internal; it was driven by growing demand from women on social media and from retail partners who saw an opportunity in the market. “We embarked on the creation of a women’s collection that stands strong on its own while seamlessly complementing our existing men’s line,” he said.
The new womenswear line blends timeless design elements with modern tailoring that embraces rather than masks the female form. It includes wardrobe staples such as blazers, suits, outerwear, and trousers—all reimagined through a feminine lens. The pieces are constructed from luxurious wools and linens in a carefully chosen color palette that ranges from crisp whites to deep burnt oranges, enabling fluid transitions from day to evening.
Details play a vital role in defining the line’s aesthetic. Intricate jacquard fabrics, statement buttons, and the brand’s trademark lapel pins infuse each item with personality, empowering women to express their individual style while wearing garments rooted in classic tailoring.
“Our aim is to extend the excellence of men’s tailoring into womenswear,” Bianchi explained, emphasizing the importance of providing women with a wardrobe that balances elegance, function, and confidence. One standout piece—a linen ivory vest and trousers with subtle Lurex pinstripes—exemplifies this mission, capturing the essence of relaxed sophistication.
