The North Face, a well-known brand trusted by outdoor enthusiasts, has announced a recall of over 15,000 pairs of their Women’s Shellista V Mid Waterproof Boots following concerns over a potential tripping hazard. The recall was made public by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on April 17, following reports of injuries tied to the boots.
The issue arises from the design of the boots, where the hook on one boot can get caught on the lace of the other boot, posing a fall hazard. As of the report, 28 incidents had been documented, including 15 minor injuries in the U.S. The boots were sold at various retailers nationwide, such as The North Face stores, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nordstrom, and REI, as well as online at thenorthface.com. These boots, priced around $165, were available from September 2024 to January 2025.
The recalled boots, available in sizes 5 through 11, feature lace-up closures with The North Face logo on the side and insole. They came in several color options, including white, gray, tan, and black, each with a unique style number. Affected customers are advised to immediately stop using the boots. The North Face has provided instructions for returning the boots, with a free shipping label and a full refund available, either in the form of the original payment, a gift card, or a check for cash purchases.
Although the colder months are behind us, the recall serves as a reminder for consumers to check if their winter footwear is included. Those who purchased the boots can find additional information through the recall link provided by the company.
