Johannesburg was aglow as fashion lovers and celebrities brought their finest to the opening night of Cruz SA Fashion Week, held at the Forum in Hyde Park on Tuesday, 22 April 2025. Among the standout stars at the event was South African TV personality K Naomi, who once again proved her knack for making a fashion statement.
K Naomi, whose real name is K Naomi Phakathi, was spotted in a chic black and white dress that had all eyes on her. The social media influencer, who had recently made headlines after calling out another influencer online over an alleged debt, turned heads with her stylish ensemble. She shared several pictures of her outfit on Instagram, captioning them with “A Big Deal. @safashionweek Opening, outfit is a collaboration piece by @rethan and I. 📸: @taff_murda_.”
Her followers quickly flooded the comments section, praising her look. Former Miss SA, Natasha Vermaak, expressed her admiration, calling K Naomi “the fashionista that you are!” Other fans complimented her hairstyle and overall appearance. One user, yozefit, wrote, “You definitely pulled that hairstyle off Hun. You look like millions.” Another fan, lebzee_hermajesty, added, “You are definitely a BIG DEAL, an absolute stunner.” While realsanele_m loved the outfit, they suggested a minor tweak, saying, “I wish the tie was tucked in the skirt to make the look neater, but it’s beautiful nevertheless.”
K Naomi’s look had many fans raving, with pontsho_phiri also commenting, “ATE… also can we have a moment for your legs.”
The Cruz SA Fashion Week opening party has become a noteworthy event for both established and emerging stars. Last year, Ayanda Ncwane’s younger brother and stylist, Phupho Gumede, also made waves at the event with his bold outfit. His unique ensemble garnered mixed reactions across social media after controversial figure Musa Khawula posted a picture of him on Twitter (X), further fueling the buzz.
Cruz Brand Manager, Maisha Mamabolo, had earlier expressed her excitement about the event, sharing that it was inspiring to witness such a vibrant convergence of creativity. “As we continue our longstanding commitment to the South African fashion industry, we were thrilled to celebrate the intersection of fashion, music, and culture while providing a platform for emerging designers,” Mamabolo said. Looking ahead, she expressed anticipation for the coming days of fashion showcases and hoped to see more attendees at SA Fashion Week.
