In a world where daring fashion choices on the red carpet are becoming increasingly common, Paris Jackson is taking a stand against critics who disapproved of her recent outfit at Paris Fashion Week. The 26-year-old model and musician made headlines when she attended Stella McCartney’s show in a bold, black, off-the-shoulder sheer dress — and not everyone was thrilled.
Over the weekend, Jackson addressed the criticism on TikTok, revealing that she received “a lot of mixed reviews” and “a good amount of flack” over her choice of attire. However, she made it clear she’s unbothered by the noise.
“I would like to point out that everyone’s entitled to their own opinions,” Jackson said. She went on to reflect on humanity’s detachment from nature, adding, “We’re animals. At one point, we abided by the laws of nature. There was a harmony [that] worked really well for the planet until one day, humans decided we’re not animals, we’re going to wear clothes and we’re gonna rule over all the other animals. And a segregation was born and spoiler alert, that’s why s— got really bad.”
The daughter of the late Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe didn’t stop there. She encouraged her followers to embrace body positivity and let go of the stigma surrounding nudity. “You’ve got one, I’ve got one, it’s OK,” she said. “There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just a human body. Let’s do something for the environment, man, let’s do something for the planet, man. Stop freaking out about nipples, man!”
Despite the backlash, Jackson didn’t let it dampen her time in the City of Light. She shared a gallery of photos from her glamorous trip to Instagram, highlighting eye-catching looks from top designers including Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, and Chloé.
Paris holds a deep affection for the French capital. In December 2024, she celebrated her engagement to music producer Justin Long (not to be confused with the actor of the same name) with a romantic getaway in the city. Reflecting on their relationship at the time, Jackson wrote, “Doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind and I couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with. Thank you for letting me be yours. I love you.”
Jackson isn’t alone in pushing back against conservative commentary on fashion. Singer Charli XCX also recently responded to criticism about her sheer outfit at the Brit Awards in London, remarking, “I feel like we’re in the era of free the nipple though, right?”
Whether or not the public catches up to this growing movement, Paris Jackson has made one thing clear: she won’t be silenced by outdated fashion standards.
