Aussie Designers Shine Bright in The White Lotus’ Most Fashion-Forward Season Yet

by Demos

Fashion takes the spotlight in season three of The White Lotus, where every outfit speaks just as loudly as the script. Set against the lush backdrop of a high-end wellness resort in Thailand, the HBO hit series brings another round of mystery, power plays, and envy—this time, with a serious dose of style.

The new season boasts an impressive cast including Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, and Leslie Bibb. While their performances are compelling, it’s the fashion—especially from Australian brands Alemais and Zimmermann—that steals the show.

Costume designer Alex Bovaird, celebrated for her ability to express character nuances through wardrobe choices, curated a collection of looks that pull from both global luxury houses and emerging talents. She told Vogue Australia that her selections came from designer labels, vintage shops, and even the vibrant Chatuchak Market in Bangkok.

“When people travel to Thailand, there’s often a sense of chasing a more exotic lifestyle,” Bovaird explained. “So naturally, their wardrobe choices become bolder. And if you’re staying somewhere like The White Lotus, you’ve likely packed something special for poolside appearances.”

Among the standout pieces are several from Alemais, the Sydney-based brand known for playful prints and artistic collaborations. Michelle Monaghan’s character, Jaclyn Lemon, makes an unforgettable entrance in the Alemais Silas mini halter dress ($365)—a striking yellow dress with pink trim, floral patterns, and daring cut-outs. Her entire look screams “celebrity on vacation,” accessorized with a Valentino handbag and Chanel wedges.

Jaclyn’s attention-grabbing wardrobe features more luxury pieces, including Loewe sunglasses and a chic Bottega beach tote, perfectly capturing her bold personality.

Leslie Bibb, playing socialite Kate, brings resort-ready charm in Alemais’ Yvette cut-out mini dress ($395), adorned with swirling colors and anchored by a statement gold ring at the bodice. Her look channels a perfect balance between daytime leisure and poolside glamour. Later, she dons the brand’s Venus shirt ($740)—a silk piece described by Alemais as “wearable art,” with concealed buttons and dropped shoulders.

Parker Posey, as the ever-eccentric Nora, also embraces Alemais in the Everly pool dress ($495), a relaxed yet intentional ensemble with balloon sleeves, bold prints, and whimsical detailing that adds to her character’s eccentric flair.

Zimmermann, another iconic Australian brand, plays a key role through Carrie Coon’s portrayal of New York lawyer Laurie. In one scene, Laurie wears the Zimmermann Alight Picnic dress ($795), a nautical-themed linen midi dress featuring structured tailoring and grosgrain accents. Later, she stuns in the brand’s mustard-yellow August belted swimsuit—complete with gold-tone chain detailing—exuding effortless opulence by the resort’s pool.

One of the season’s most emotional scenes sees Sarah Catherine Hook’s character contemplating a spiritual shift while dressed in the Zimmermann cut-out paisley halterneck dress ($1,316). In a vivid papaya hue, the dress’s linen fabric, tasselled ties, and flattering silhouette underscore the weight of her decision to leave behind a life of luxury in pursuit of inner peace. The garment becomes symbolic of both transformation and privilege.

Season three continues The White Lotus tradition of using scenery and setting to mirror its characters’ inner turmoil. But this time, fashion becomes a deeper narrative tool. Each outfit—down to its fabric, color, and accessory—offers insight into a character’s status, insecurities, aspirations, and identity.

The presence of Alemais and Zimmermann in this richly styled season is no accident. Alemais, established in 2021, stands for sustainability and artisan partnerships, blending timeless cuts with modern flair. Zimmermann, an international favorite, continues to fuse elegance and ease, making it ideal for a show that thrives on aesthetic contrast.

Bovaird’s costume choices are more than stylish—they’re layered with storytelling. In a world where enlightenment masks deeper emotional unrest, fashion becomes the perfect language to express what the characters themselves won’t say aloud. And this season, it’s two Australian powerhouses that do the talking.
