At the recent Lakmé Fashion Week, four designers reimagined the timeless fabric of Khadi, showcasing its versatility in new and exciting ways. One standout was Niki Mahajan, a designer renowned for her collaboration with artisans from Bihar, Rajasthan, and Assam. Her label unveiled the French Touch collection, a stunning fusion of Baroque grandeur and the earthy beauty of Khadi, which captivated the audience with its intricate craftsmanship and innovative designs.
The collection was a beautiful blend of European prints, including the opulence of Baroque and French brocades, which were cleverly translated into prints on Khadi, a fabric known for its raw and organic texture. This unexpected combination brought a new dimension to Khadi, elevating it with a sense of luxury without compromising its earthy roots.
The show was opened by television star Shalin Bhanot, who made a stylish entrance in a yellow and white abstract print shirt paired with white trousers, setting the tone for a colorful and lively presentation. The collection itself featured fluid, feminine silhouettes that flowed down the runway, effortlessly wearable and elegantly styled.
Niki Mahajan’s unique concept of merging European influences with Khadi proved to be a bold yet harmonious fusion.
