While fans eagerly await the release of Cardi B’s highly anticipated follow-up to her 2018 debut album Invasion of Privacy, the rapper is shifting her focus to a different creative endeavor — launching her own clothing and beauty brands in collaboration with Revolve Group.
In an exclusive interview with WWD on Tuesday, April 1, Cardi revealed her new venture, emphasizing her commitment to offering products that are both stylish and accessible. The star credited her passion for shopping and her keen eye for detail as key elements in ensuring her brand meets the expectations of potential customers.
“I could shop every single day, but there’s always that one pair of jeans that I love. There’s that tank top that I love, and I don’t care how many stains are on it, I’m gonna wear it, because I just love it,” Cardi shared. “I want my brand to have that one piece that you buy, that you love, that makes sense. If it’s a size small, it should be a true size small; if it’s a size large, it should be a true size large.” She continued, emphasizing the importance of quality and fit, adding, “I don’t think about me now, I think about me when I was 20 years old. I’m walking in Fordham [Plaza]; it’s six o’clock and I have a date at nine. ‘What is gonna fit me?’ I want something that fits me; it’s great, and it’s good quality. I could wash it and wash it and wash it, and it doesn’t get washed out.”
Cardi’s previous partnerships, including her work with MAC Cosmetics, a line with Fashion Nova, a collaboration with Reebok, and her involvement in Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2024 campaign, have already given her significant experience in the fashion and beauty industries.
The Bronx native, known for her massive success in the rap world, also sees this new business expansion as an opportunity to build a legacy for her children, ensuring they are financially secure in the future. She reflected on her upbringing, noting, “I have a big career, I’m a big artist and everything. But it’s about what you have to leave behind. It doesn’t suffice how many number-one [hits] I have, or how big my name is. I mean, I am a legend, but if God forbid something happens to me, I don’t want my kids to be fighting with record labels on how much percent they’re going to get with my music.”
In November 2024, Cardi hinted at the launch of her “secret business,” along with the release of her sophomore album. With her new fashion and beauty brands officially underway, fans are hopeful that her highly anticipated music will follow shortly after, likely on her 2025 agenda.
