Vancouver Fashion Week Returns for Fall/Winter 2025, Featuring a Bold Kidswear Twist

by Demos

Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) is making a grand return this April, unveiling a dynamic and diverse collection for its highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2025 season.

For over 24 years, this prestigious event has served as a launchpad for Canadian talent while spotlighting the global diversity of the fashion world. With over 45 designers from more than 10 countries, VFW continues to be a vibrant platform where creativity blends with culture, offering both emerging and established designers the opportunity to expand their media presence and reach a global audience.

From April 8 to 13, 2025, fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders will converge in Vancouver for six days of immersive runway experiences. The season’s lineup captures the full spectrum of modern style, with highlights including the refined elegance of Australia’s Aisha Ellen Garments, the bold streetwear edge of America’s Astrophe Apparel, and the ethereal couture of French designer JULIE EHME. Additional standouts include Thailand’s TRIKUL, Mexico’s Indigenous collective NUDO 6/6, and Chinese visionary RuirUiruI, whose “genderless, ageless, and classless” designs are challenging traditional fashion boundaries.

While international designers add global flair, local talent continues to shine on the VFW stage. Alex S. Yu, known for his whimsical aesthetic and fresh off London and New York shows, returns to showcase his latest work. Eduardo Ramos, a VFW alum since 2019, presents a new Paris collection, and sustainability takes center stage with names like Delayne Dixon, who transforms upcycled and deadstock materials into runway-ready garments.

Student showcases from LaSalle College and Vancouver Community College (VCC) further solidify VFW’s role as a springboard for the next generation of designers.

This year’s Nancy Mak Award, which honors the late creative mentor, goes to Vancouver’s Bahar Kianpour. Renowned for her ethereal and elegant designs, Kianpour’s recognition highlights VFW’s ongoing commitment to nurturing fresh, visionary talent.

While the main event focuses on cutting-edge adult fashion, the spotlight also shines brightly on the next generation with Vancouver Kids Fashion Week (VKFW), held April 12–13 at David Lam Hall. VKFW has grown into a celebrated platform for youthful creativity, inclusivity, and multicultural expression, showcasing bold colors, whimsical silhouettes, and eco-friendly materials. The runway will feature collections that range from streetwear to dreamy couture, all designed with children’s comfort and individuality in mind. This emphasis on sustainability and ethical production reflects VFW’s core values, ensuring that even the youngest fashionistas are dressed for a brighter, more mindful future.

VKFW will feature a mix of local prodigies and international designers, including high school creators from Vancouver making their runway debuts alongside renowned Japanese brands ikumi and kurumi. Their collections embrace the playful nature of children’s fashion while maintaining a focus on sustainability.

“At Vancouver Fashion Week, diversity is our greatest strength,” says Jamal Abdourahman, founder of VFW. “We bring together the most incredible design talent from across Canada and the world, presenting innovative creative concepts to the industry. Fashion is a global phenomenon, and it’s inspiring to see such a powerful mix of designers under one roof here in Vancouver.”

Under Jamal Abdourahman’s leadership, VFW has grown into Canada’s largest and longest-running fashion event, second in North America only to New York Fashion Week. With initiatives like the Global Fashion Collective and the continually expanding VKFW, Abdourahman has built a global bridge connecting emerging talent with industry heavyweights. From Tokyo to Paris to Vancouver, VFW is more than just a fashion event—it represents opportunity, expression, and change.

This season, Vancouver Fashion Week promises a spectacular display of reinvention. From avant-garde to timeless classics, each show will offer a glimpse into the future of fashion—a future that is as diverse, dynamic, and daring as the city itself.
