PNG Fashion Week is further expanding its global presence with an exciting photoshoot in Brisbane, Australia, marking a major milestone in its decade-long partnership with Fifi Fashion Week. This collaboration aims to highlight the talents of Papua New Guinea’s top designers to a wider international audience.
The photoshoot will feature the unique designs of renowned PNG designers, including Wandid Karimbo, Natasha Tamanabae, and Cathey Curry, who are celebrated for their innovative and bold styles. PNG Fashion Week’s brand ambassador, Miss Incennea Minz, will model these garments, building on the success of her previous shoot in Sydney last year.
Philma Kelegai, the Founder and Managing Director of PNG Fashion Week, will be joined by Temesia Tuicaumia, Director of Fifi Fashion Week, and Asvin Singe, the official photographer for Fifi Fashion Week. Together, they will work with Brisbane-based models Levi Bird and Grace Akaumu, as well as Sydney-based model Solomon Tuipulotu, to create stunning and visually compelling images.
“Our partnership with Fifi Fashion Week has been a cornerstone of our success for over a decade,” said Kelegai. “This Brisbane photoshoot is a monumental opportunity for our designers to gain international recognition. With the expertise of Temesia, Asvin, and the incredible models, we are confident this will be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the best of PNG fashion.”
The photoshoot represents a significant step in PNG Fashion Week’s ongoing mission to elevate Papua New Guinea’s fashion industry on the global stage. Miss Minz’s involvement in this project highlights the vibrant, bold, and distinctive designs emerging from the region.
The inclusion of models Bird, Akaumu, and Tuipulotu adds an international flair to the collaboration, showcasing the diverse range of talent from the Pacific and beyond.
This partnership between PNG Fashion Week and Fifi Fashion Week exemplifies the power of long-term collaboration and cross-cultural exchange, positioning Pacific fashion at the forefront of the global fashion scene. PNG Fashion Week continues its commitment to nurturing local designers and enhancing the global visibility of Pacific fashion. Updates on this collaboration will be released as the project progresses.
