At Shanghai Fashion Week 2025, Disney celebrated the 30th anniversary of Toy Story with a spectacular designer showcase, featuring runway looks that reimagined the beloved Pixar characters through high fashion and avant-garde cosplay.
The Disney Style Instagram account gave fans a sneak peek at the incredible collection, which ranged from elevated cosplay ensembles to minimalist motifs and bold, deconstructed designs. The showcase featured creations from renowned Chinese designers and brands, including Bokh Xuesong, Chin Chin, JE CAI, LELALES, LI-NING, Manufacture, Nan Knits, PONDER.ER, Short Sentence, and ZOON9B00.
Among the standout pieces were the Buzz Lightyear-inspired designs, which made a striking impression with futuristic silhouettes and sleek details. Meanwhile, the Western-themed looks took a more experimental turn, blending classic cowboy aesthetics with modern fashion influences.
One particularly eye-catching outfit featured a glass display case paired with a Pixar logo beanie, a look that humorously channeled Al’s Online Toy Barn from the film—if he had been a Silicon Valley tech bro in the toy-flipping business.
Beyond the iconic main characters, the collection also honored fan-favorite sidekicks, with fashion pieces inspired by Lotso, Forky, and Ducky & Bunny (voiced by Key & Peele in Toy Story 4).
Among all the dazzling designs, one ensemble stood out as a personal favorite—a Buzz Lightyear-inspired pleated skirt and jacket combo, giving off a stylish fusion of Lightyear meets Clueless.
This Shanghai Fashion Week showcase not only celebrated Toy Story’s 30-year legacy but also demonstrated how pop culture and high fashion can merge to create wearable art with a nostalgic twist.
