As the Spring 2025 menswear shows continue to inspire fashion enthusiasts, the FASHION team has been closely following the latest trends since June. From Dries Van Noten’s sheer trenches to the playful short shorts at Gucci, the season promises a variety of exciting fashion choices. But as always, the question remains: which trends will translate from the runway to the streets?
To uncover the answer, FASHION reached out to key menswear experts to find out which styles they’re predicting for the spring. Senior Creative & Fashion Director of FASHION & Events, George Antonopoulos, Fashion Director of Holt Renfrew, Joseph Tang, and content creator and stylist, Christian Thompson, shared their must-have trends for Spring 2025, offering insights on how to wear them.
One of the standout trends for the season is the sheer look. From shirts and jackets to pants, sheer fabrics will dominate. Designers such as Louis Vuitton Men’s, Rick Owens, Denzi Patrick, and Dries van Noten have embraced this trend, creating eye-catching pieces that are perfect for summer. As Christian Thompson advises, the key to styling sheer garments is to make them the focal point of the outfit while using other pieces to support the look. A flowy sheer top, for example, can make a bold statement, and the airy fabric choice is ideal for warmer weather.
Workwear is also making a big return this season, with a focus on chore coats, cargo pants, and pieces with plenty of pockets. Dior Men, Hermès, Ami, Sacai, and Giorgio Armani all showcased this trend, which emphasizes layering for a polished yet casual appearance. Joseph Tang recommends incorporating a shirt jacket as a more relaxed alternative to a traditional sports coat, layering it over a clean button-up shirt or a fine-gauge knit for a sophisticated yet laid-back look that works well in and out of the office.
In contrast, Spring 2025 also brings a shift in focus to the male midriff. Short shorts are making a major comeback, with designers like Gucci, LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi, Fendi, Hermes, Juun.J, Bianca Saunders, and Zegna featuring the daring style. George Antonopoulos suggests pairing these shorts with boxier tops, such as an oversized tee or button-down, to balance out the shorter length. A loafer and socks offer a more classic look, while a sporty statement sneaker and monochrome sock combination adds a modern, athletic edge.
Sports-inspired fashion is another key theme for Spring 2025, with high-end brands giving a stylish update to classic athletic pieces. Miu Miu, Fendi, Louis Vuitton Men’s, 3.Paradis, and Moschino all embraced this sporty trend, blending athletic and tailored looks. Joseph Tang recommends mixing sport-inspired items with wardrobe essentials, such as layering a sporty windbreaker under a jacket or pairing an athletic hoodie with a shirt and tie for a unique fusion of styles.
Sorbet colors—think pastel shades like vanilla, strawberry, and blueberry—are another hot trend this spring. Designers like Ami, Amiri, Bianca Saunders, Comme Des Garçons Hommes Plus, Loewe, and JW Anderson showcased vibrant, refreshing hues. According to George Antonopoulos, mixing pastels can create a daring, new look, but if that’s too bold, opting for a single sorbet color from head to toe, paired with neutral shoes like loafers, sandals, or white sneakers, is an easy way to embrace the trend.
Finally, the male midriff is having its moment with cropped garments. Loewe, Prada, Dries, Hed Maynar, JW, Doublet, Acne, Armani, Sacai, and Magliano have all included crop tops in their Spring 2025 collections. Christian Thompson suggests pairing cropped tops with baggy denim or oversized pants for an effortless, cool vibe that works for a variety of occasions.
As we look ahead to Spring 2025, these trends promise to bring a mix of bold experimentation and classic styling. Whether embracing sheer fabrics, sporty looks, or pastel hues, men’s fashion this season is all about balancing daring statements with clean, sophisticated silhouettes.
