Teen Entrepreneur Kate Korngold Revolutionizes Women’s Golf Fashion with Featherie

by Demos

When considering women in golf who are shaping the future of the sport, names like Nelly Korda and Rose Zhang often come to mind. Alongside these players, social media influencers and broadcasters are making a significant impact as the face of the women’s golf revolution. These key figures are supported by countless women working behind the scenes, dedicated to transforming the industry. Their efforts in areas such as fashion, development, instruction, and media have helped elevate women’s golf into a prominent space.

One standout trailblazer is 15-year-old Kate Korngold, the founder of Featherie, a high-performance women’s golf brand tailored specifically for teens.

Kate’s passion for the game started much like many others, spending quality time on the course with her father. This core connection has been a key factor in fostering a new generation of female golfers who share the same love for the sport.

“I was really motivated to keep getting back on the course to keep having these fun memories with my dad,” Korngold shared. Her enthusiasm for golf grew rapidly, starting at age 4 and entering competitive play by age 9.

As she began competing, she faced the challenge of finding golf attire that was both functional and stylish for her age. Like many other female junior golfers, Kate found the options in local pro shops were either for boys or for older women.

As Korngold puts it, “If you look good, you play good.” But wearing clothes designed for boys was not the “look good” feel most female golfers sought.

“I was really frustrated,” Korngold explained. “After realizing that there’s a problem, I went to my parents for help. … We realized that there was a huge void in the market for this age group.”

Determined to make a change, Kate and her family took action to improve the options available for female junior golf apparel. Kate realized, “No one else was going to make them, so I should.” She worked with a designer in New York City to bring her vision to life, launching Featherie at the PGA Merchandise Show in 2024 with a collection of four tops and two bottoms, focusing on carefully chosen designs and fabrics.

Korngold proudly highlighted that all Featherie fabrics feature UPF 50 protection and are free from harmful chemicals.

“They are free of chemicals that affect growth and development,” she added.

After launching the brand, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, women of all ages expressed envy that the brand was only available in teen sizes. Taking this feedback to heart, Kate and her team decided to expand the brand, returning to the PGA Show in 2025 with a new collection that included adult sizing.

“The feedback was really positive, especially from women who played golf,” Korngold said. “They had no option for clean, modern clothes, so there were a lot of women gravitating towards Featherie because of that.”

While the brand continues to expand, the Korngolds remain committed to the core value of offering products tailored specifically for teens. Korngold is excited to include women’s sizing, ensuring that all women and girls can feel comfortable in their clothing on the course.

In today’s business world, understanding the impact of social media is crucial for success. As a teenager, Korngold has a unique advantage in using social media to engage with her audience.

“Especially with the group that we’re targeting, it was really important for us to be on social to find our customers through there,” Korngold said.

Featherie has embraced social media, bringing on two brand ambassadors: EPSON Tour Professional Christine Wang and broadcaster Emilia Doran.

Korngold speaks highly of their contributions, saying, “We love both of them because they both bring a really positive mindset to the game of golf. It makes it less intimidating for young girls to see these two women having a lot of fun on the course.”

Kate’s journey proves that golf is more than just a sport; it’s a growing community of inspiring individuals united by their love of the game. Beyond the clothing, the mission of Featherie is to break down the long-standing male-dominated stereotype in golf.

Currently a freshman in high school, Korngold is pursuing her dream of playing collegiate golf while continuing to expand and inspire through her clothing brand.

Korngold founded Featherie to see more girls like her on the course. In doing so, she has created a community of women built around confidence, style, and the beloved white golf ball.
