by Demos

Lakmē Fashion Week, in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary, bringing together the best of Indian fashion. Hosted by the House of Lakmē, FDCI, and Reliance Brands (RBL), this milestone event will showcase an impressive lineup of designers, introduce new initiatives, and present groundbreaking collaborations that will shape the future of fashion and beauty.

Since its inception in 1999 as India’s premier fashion event, Lakmē Fashion Week has evolved into a prestigious partnership between Lakmē, FDCI, and Reliance Brands. The Summer Resort showcase takes place in March in Mumbai, while the Winter Festive show occurs in October in Delhi. Over the years, the platform has played a crucial role in defining the Indian fashion landscape, launching and nurturing celebrated designers like Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna, Tarun Tahiliani, and Rohit Bal, along with emerging talents such as Rahul Mishra, Masaba, and Aneetha Arora through its Gen Next program.

For over 25 years, Lakmē’s collaboration with Lakmē Fashion Week has seamlessly blended fashion and beauty. While Lakmē Fashion Week introduces the latest in fashion, Lakmē ensures beauty trends evolve in tandem, allowing women to experiment and express themselves without hesitation.

The season will open with The House of Lakmē Grand Opening, featuring renowned designer Anamika Khanna’s pret label, AK|OK, in partnership with the Lakmē 9to5 Hya-Matte range. This collection is designed for the unstoppable modern woman—one who embraces power dressing with efficient, long-lasting beauty solutions. Additionally, Lakmē Sun Expert will present The Showstopper Party with the emerging label Saaksha & Kinni.

With a membership of over 400 designers, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is dedicated to fostering India’s fashion industry by supporting and promoting exceptional talent. In a country where indigenous crafts and handlooms hold cultural significance, FDCI remains committed to elevating the “Made in India” label.

This season, the FDCI Showroom at the event will provide attendees with direct access to designers’ latest collections, offering a unique opportunity to engage with creative minds and strengthen connections with Indian fashion. The five-day event will culminate with the FDCI Stockroom, where attendees can explore and purchase designer wear at unbeatable prices.

FDCI will present three curations this season. The first continues its partnership with Moscow Fashion Week, featuring international designer ZA_ZA. Another segment will highlight the evolution of Khadi with a special showcase in collaboration with Khadi India, featuring designers Ka-Sha, Nikasha, Niki Mahajan, and COEK- Khadi India. Additionally, FDCI will spotlight menswear with The Boy’s Club, showcasing emerging labels Anurag Gupta, LineTribe_, and roy_calcutta.

Reliance Brands, a driving force behind Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI, plays a key role in shaping India’s luxury and fashion landscape. The organization is dedicated to nurturing emerging designers and talent while championing sustainability through initiatives like NIF Global Presents GenNext and R|Elan™ Presents Circular Design Challenge. The R|Elan™ Circular Design Challenge, in partnership with the United Nations in India, has grown into a globally recognized initiative.

This season, CDC Winner Rkive City will debut a full collection showcasing pioneering sustainability efforts. Additionally, R|Elan™ will collaborate with designer Namrata Joshipura to introduce a unique Athleisure range. International participation will be enhanced with a special showcase from British brand ASOS and a presentation featuring Fashion Trust Arabia winners Salim Azzam, Kazna Asker, and Yousef Akbar. This marks the beginning of a year-long collaboration with Fashion Trust Arabia, with India as the Guest Country this year.

Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI remains one of India’s most highly anticipated fashion events. All showcases will be live-streamed across Lakmē, Lakmē Fashion Week, and FDCI’s social media platforms, as well as on JioTV’s OTT platform, ensuring global accessibility.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, remarked, “It is an honor to have been part of this journey as Lakmē Fashion Week celebrates 25 years. Our commitment to providing a platform for the business of fashion remains steadfast. This season will highlight exceptional design talent, creating a dynamic space for both established and emerging designers. We are looking forward to an exciting season that will elevate India’s fashion industry to new heights.”

He further emphasized, “Beauty and fashion are intertwined, forming a unified statement of self-expression. Each season, we curate collections that seamlessly merge fashion and beauty trends. When floral fashion dominates the runway, Lakmē reflects that in beauty; when shimmer takes over globally, Lakmē introduces the Glitterati collection in sync with global trends. By shaping trends and inspiring individuality, we empower people to embrace beauty as personal storytelling.”

Sunanda Khaitan, Vice President of Lakmē India, stated, “As we commemorate 25 years of Lakmē Fashion Week, we take pride in shaping the intersection of beauty and fashion in India. With a dynamic lineup of designers and cutting-edge beauty innovations, we are excited for our opening show, ‘Silver Collar,’ in collaboration with Anamika Khanna’s AK|OK, which brings runway-inspired beauty to the workplace wardrobe of modern women.”

Jaspreet Chandok, Group Vice President of Reliance Brands, added, “We are thrilled to return with an exciting lineup featuring exceptional design talent from India and beyond. This season promises a diverse mix of influential and visionary creators as we chart the course for the next 25 years. We appreciate the continued support of our brand partners and look forward to welcoming new collaborators. Our goal is to transform this event into a vibrant hub of design, innovation, and sustainability at the iconic Jio World Center.”
