In a disappointing turn for fashion lovers, Y/Project has confirmed that it will close its doors for good after 14 years in business. The Paris-based brand, known for its rebellious and edgy style, was originally founded by the late Gilles Elalouf and Yohan Serfaty. The closure comes after the brand struggled to find a buyer amid the ongoing slowdown in the luxury market, as reported by Hypebeast.
Glenn Martens, who served as the creative director from 2013 to 2024, was at the helm during the brand’s most recent years, including a brief overlap with his role at Diesel starting in October 2020. Y/Project becomes the first victim of the current luxury market downturn in 2024, following the closure of other notable labels such as Mara Hoffman, Interior NYC, and Sarah Jessica Parker’s SJP Collection.
