Taipei Fashion Week to Highlight Local Culture and International Talent

Demos

Taipei Fashion Week will continue its mission of blending global perspectives with local culture from October 17 to October 21. This year’s theme, “Taiwan Type Fashion Illustration,” features a visual campaign led by Olympic gold medalist Lin Yuting.

The theme focuses on capturing the memories and daily lives of Taiwanese people. This inspiration will also shape the event’s schedule and the lineup of designers. A total of 13 designers will showcase their work, including well-known names like Gioia Pan, Damur, Story Wear, and Inf. Returning brands such as Seivson and Jenn Lee were chosen for their ability to reflect Taiwan’s vibrant spirit.

The opening show will set the tone for the week. Six Taiwanese designers will collaborate with graphic IP artists to engage the growing young consumer market. Minister of Culture Yuan Li stated, “We have come up with an innovative idea to create a dialogue between fashion designers and graphic IP artists. This approach brings fashion closer to younger audiences.” The collaboration will showcase the designers’ creativity and convey the stories behind each original graphic IP.

Art Exhibition to Highlight Graphic IP Market

An art exhibition titled “Taiwan Type Super Swag” will run throughout the week, highlighting the significance of the graphic IP market in today’s world. Graphic IP artists will showcase collaborations that reflect Taiwan’s history and vibrant street culture.

Additionally, a crossover fashion show co-curated by stage designer Chien Chang Feng will take place on Xinyi Road. The show will feature collections from notable designers like Just In XX, Pces, Claudie Wang, and Bob Jian. It will consist of six sequences that explore Taiwan’s rich history, creating an immersive experience through local stores and storefronts.

International Brands Join the Lineup

On the international front, the Italian-French heritage label Pierre Cardin will debut in Taipei this season. The show will present the brand’s latest couture collection, first revealed in Paris, under the direction of its new president, Rodrigo Basilicati Cardin. During the event, the Pierre Cardin Young Designers Competition will take place, continuing the brand’s commitment to nurturing emerging designers.

Alongside the fashion shows, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Culture will support businesses through the Taipei In Style business matchmaking event. Global buyers are invited, with 39 Taiwanese brands showcasing their products and the Asia Fashion Collection presenting its international fashion project.
