Good Clothes Show And Select Initiate Nationwide Search For Models

A new consumer fashion event, The Good Clothes Show, scheduled for September 20-22, 2024 at Birmingham’s NEC, is teaming up with Select Model Management to launch a national model search contest to crown the ‘Face of 2025’.

Winning models will be featured in the show’s promotional campaign, and two lucky winners will secure year-long contracts with Select.

Two open call castings are planned: the first on August 16 at NEC and the second on August 26 at Mills Fabrica in King’s Cross, known for its focus on sustainable innovation.

Select Model Management has a history of discovering talent at past events like Clothes Show Live, including notable names such as Pixie Lott, Oliver Cheshire, Luly Reynolds, and Sam Webb. Brett Staniland, once a Love Island contestant and now an advocate for sustainable fashion, will join the judging panel, bringing his insights to the competition.

The Good Clothes Show aims to bridge the gap between fast fashion and sustainability, showcasing various levels of sustainable practices. The event will highlight circularity, from clothing swaps and donations to the transformation of old garments into new materials.

Over the three-day event, attendees can enjoy Silent Cinema screenings, participate in the Big Swap, relax in the restyle lounge, attend book signings, and witness catwalk shows.

Distinguished hosts include presenter Annaliese Dayes, Clare Press – former Vogue Australia Editor and creator of the Wardrobe Crises podcast, and Tiffanie Darke – writer, brand strategist, and former editor of Sunday Times Style. Workshops and panels will feature Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant, climate activist Tori Tsui, and writer Aja Barber.

At the heart of the show is the ‘circular machine’, launching the event with an invitation for visitors to bring unwanted clothes. These items will be sorted into three categories: donations for Smart Works, swapping via Global Fashion Exchange, or customization at White Rose’s station.

The Good Clothes Show is a new event drawing parallels to the former Clothes Show Live, which influenced many British youth in pursuing careers in fashion.

To attend a model casting, pre-registration via The Good Clothes Show website is required to secure a time slot.
