Christine McGuinness’s Clothing Brand Fades Amid Friendship Fallout and Legal Troubles

by Demos

Christine McGuinness’s once-promising clothing brand, HER, has largely faded into obscurity after a fallout with her former best friend and business partner, Catherine Farrell.

The 37-year-old star had announced her debut collection for HER with great enthusiasm following her split from husband Paddy McGuinness. At the time, Christine was excited about her collaboration with Catherine, who she described as one of her first true friends. Together, they launched the brand with big ambitions.

Christine had shared her joy in the early days, celebrating HER’s growth with posts such as: “It’s our birthday!!!! Thank you so much to every single one of you that have placed an order, followed, liked, and supported our business – we see you!!”

Her message also highlighted their rapid expansion, from moving into a second location to securing a much larger space with a team of people, indicating the brand’s success.

However, things took a downturn when Catherine Farrell stepped away from the business and resigned as director last year. Around this time, the company faced the possibility of being struck off, according to records from Companies House. Soon after, Christine stopped promoting HER, and the brand has since faded from the public eye.

Christine’s representative has been contacted for a statement, but no comment has been received.

Meanwhile, Catherine Farrell has launched a new venture with Tanya Bardsley, while Christine seems to no longer be in touch with either of them. This marks a shift from the excitement Christine once expressed about HER and her friendship with Catherine.

In addition to HER, Christine had previously launched another brand in 2020 called VIBE By Christine. This line, which included £50 workout sets, struggled to sell and has since been dissolved.

Adding to her woes, Christine is now facing a legal challenge to her plans of launching a cosmetics range, Goddess by Christine McGuinness. The reality star had filed paperwork with the Intellectual Property Office to trademark the name, but US-based sportswear giant Alo Yoga, valued at $10 billion, has opposed her application. The brand, known for its celebrity fanbase including Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, already uses the term “Goddess” for its own range of high-end sportswear.

Christine had hoped to expand her brand to include makeup, perfume, and wellness products, but now her trademark application is stalled as the UK government reviews Alo Yoga’s opposition. The outcome is still pending, and the legal battle continues to unfold.
