The newly revamped Royal Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach has recently welcomed its second and third luxury retailers following Thom Browne’s grand debut in March. Spanish fashion powerhouse Loewe and Milan-based women’s fashion brand La DoubleJ have now opened their doors to the public, offering a fresh wave of European style to the area.
Loewe, renowned for its exquisite leather goods, clothing, perfumes, and accessories, officially opened its boutique on April 3. Shortly after, La DoubleJ, known for its vibrant and eclectic designs, launched its first U.S. location on April 8, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion.
The opening of these retailers marks a pivotal moment for the Royal Poinciana Playhouse, a historical landmark that is being transformed into a cultural and retail hub. WS Development, the Massachusetts-based real estate firm behind the playhouse’s revitalization, has expressed excitement over the new retail offerings.
Samantha David, president of WS Development, shared her enthusiasm: “The reintroduction of The Royal Poinciana Playhouse signifies more than just the careful revitalization of a historic landmark. It marks the beginning of a new cultural heartbeat for Palm Beach. The addition of Loewe, Thom Browne, and La DoubleJ as the retail foundation of the Playhouse is the start of the next extraordinary chapter for this beloved building.”
Loewe, which first launched a boutique at the Royal Poinciana Plaza last fall, has now transitioned to its permanent location within the playhouse. The boutique offers a curated selection of women’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, small leather goods, accessories, and eyewear. The brand has established a strong presence in Florida with two boutiques in Miami-Dade County, in addition to locations in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Las Vegas.
Founded in 1846 in Spain, Loewe began as a leathermaking collective and has since evolved into a global luxury brand. The brand’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, who joined in 2013, has been pivotal in leading a significant rejuvenation of Loewe’s offerings and aesthetics.
The Palm Beach boutique, which spans 1,300 square feet, embodies Loewe’s “Casa Loewe” concept. The design of the space merges fashion, art, craftsmanship, and designer furniture, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an art collector’s home. The boutique’s décor includes handcrafted blue and green ceramic tiles, marble podiums, brass and ash wood shelving, and concrete flooring. The furniture selection features distinctive pieces, including a leather puffer bench and NakashimaConoid Cushion chairs, making the space a true blend of luxury and artistic expression.
The addition of Loewe and La DoubleJ to the Royal Poinciana Playhouse continues to elevate Palm Beach’s reputation as a premier destination for high-end retail, offering visitors a chance to experience a blend of historic charm and modern luxury.
