Fashion lovers in Northeast Pennsylvania are in for a stylish treat as NEPA Fashion Week prepares to take over the Friedman JCC in Kingston on Saturday, May 3, from 3 to 8 p.m. This exciting event promises to highlight both local and national fashion talent in a vibrant atmosphere of creativity and celebration.
Hosted by Brieana Ofosu—a well-known model, journalist, and influencer from the Poconos—the evening will include a red carpet entrance, runway shows, live performances, and an awards ceremony. A range of vendors from across the country will be on site, offering items such as handcrafted goods, jewelry, and food.
General admission tickets are priced at $15, while VIP tickets are available for $40, offering added perks like front and second-row seating, red carpet interviews, swag bags, and automatic raffle entries. The red carpet will open at 3 p.m., and the main show kicks off at 4 p.m.
The event is the brainchild of Alahji Robinson, an award-winning model who has graced the runways of Los Angeles and New York Fashion Weeks. Robinson says his goal is to bring the glamour and artistry of high fashion to his local community while also creating a platform for emerging talent.
“I just want people in this area to know that there’s now a fashion outlet,” Robinson said. “So anybody who’s an aspiring model, clothing designer, or anything within the fashion and beauty industry, I want them to have an outlet going forward.”
Robinson, a plus-size model himself, is especially focused on promoting diversity and inclusion. He emphasizes that NEPA Fashion Week will spotlight a wide range of models and styles.
“When you come to this show, you’re gonna see models that are over the age of 50. You’re gonna see models that are plus-size. You’re gonna see petite models, short models. You’re gonna see white, you’re gonna see Black, you’re gonna see Hispanic—you’re gonna see what the everyday person looks like,” he explained.
His mission is not only to entertain but also to inspire. Robinson hopes attendees, especially young creatives, will leave feeling empowered to pursue their passions.
“It’s important to see somebody that looks like them in a positive light,” he said. “I want them to come to the show and see those people walking the runway and feel like, ‘If they can do it, so can I.’”
Among the event’s highlights will be the crowning of Mr. and Mrs. NEPA Fashion Week, along with other recognitions. Notably, the event will present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Gwen DeVoe, the trailblazer behind Full Figured Fashion Week, honoring her pioneering work in promoting size inclusivity in fashion.
With a strong commitment to diversity, creativity, and opportunity, NEPA Fashion Week is not just an event—it’s a movement that aims to redefine what fashion means for everyone.
