Estonia made a powerful mark on New York’s fashion scene with a boundary-pushing, immersive performance at The Canvas 3.0, located inside the iconic Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center. Hosted by the Estonian Design House, the event featured 14 Estonian designers in a unique presentation that fused fashion with live performance, all under the visionary direction of Reet Aus, a trailblazer in sustainable design and upcycling.
Breaking away from the traditional runway format, the event transformed into a theatrical experience, where garments told stories through movement and interaction. Local performers brought each collection to life in a way that blurred the lines between fashion, art, and environmental consciousness.
Among the standout names were Reet Aus, celebrated for her sustainable, upcycled creations; Oksana Tandit, known for her timeless elegance; and No(N)s, a brand with a distinctly artistic edge. Also featured were Karlotta, Franz Raver, Luxe Hapsal, Nordhale, Sokisahtel, Tie Apron, Tikunova, Tuub, Sandra Luks, Alpaka, and Xenia Joost—each presenting collections that combined innovation with a strong commitment to eco-consciousness.
The electric atmosphere was amplified by a live DJ set from Tiburón, energizing the crowd, while Kitty Florentine, a multidisciplinary performance artist, captivated with an interactive act full of beauty, satire, and flair. Fashion photographer Mauricio Zelaya was on hand to document the most visually compelling moments of the evening.
Following the immersive performance, guests had the opportunity to browse and shop at the exclusive pop-up store, which featured select items from the designers’ collections. The event concluded with a networking session, where designers, creatives, and fashion professionals connected over drinks, exchanging ideas about sustainability and Estonia’s growing influence in global fashion.
The evening was hosted by The Canvas, a platform revolutionizing retail by transforming vacant spaces into hubs for ethical and independent brands. Known for its strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), The Canvas supports businesses that champion sustainability, transparency, and community values.
The Canvas 3.0, located at 185 Greenwich St, and its sister location at 93 South St in Seaport, are part of a broader initiative to empower international talent and foster global conversations through fashion diplomacy. This Estonian-led event was part of that mission—shining a spotlight on innovation, heritage, and the future of fashion.
With Estonia’s sustainable fashion leaders now on New York’s radar, the immersive showcase proved that fashion is not just about clothes—it’s a powerful platform for cultural exchange and meaningful change.
