The 2025 Fall/Winter Taipei Fashion Week kicked off with the theme “Fashion * Endless,” delving into the limitless possibilities of sustainability and innovation in the fashion industry. The event brought together six top Taiwanese textile companies and designers, working together to integrate sustainability throughout every step of the process, from fabric selection and clothing design to production. The focus on the “4Rs” — recycle, reuse, reduce, and replay — aims to promote a fully circular, sustainable fashion trend.
While the designers showcased the next season’s key looks on the runway, the street style outside revealed how these trends are transformed into personal style in everyday life. From the reinvention of classic elements to the reinterpretation of accessories, Taipei’s streets this season reflect a unique aesthetic that blends environmental awareness with a spirit of fashion experimentation. Key items for this season include ties, scarves, and denim, which not only represent personal choices but also embody a style attitude — from vintage to modern, subtle to bold.
Trend #1: Ties
This season, ties have been reimagined in distinct ways in street style. On one hand, they continue the rise of preppy style, often paired with blazers and shirts to create an academic vibe. On the other hand, street style has breathed new life into ties by mixing them with metallic accessories and other small details, creating unexpected contrasts. Vintage floral and striped ties are popular, evoking a nostalgic feel from the ’80s and ’90s, while minimalist black ties have a more modern appeal, adding depth and layers to outfits. Notably, this trend isn’t limited to men — many women have also embraced ties as a key style element, pairing them with leather suits to highlight a chic, androgynous look.
Trend #2: Scarves
Scarves have evolved from traditional neck accessories to become focal points in Taipei’s street style, often seen around the waist or in the hair. Used as a belt alternative, scarves add movement and dimension to minimalist outfits. For example, vintage print scarves tied around pants offer both practicality and individuality, while using scarves as headscarves taps into the current “GD Style,” delivering a unique, trendy aesthetic.
Trend #3: Denim
Denim, a timeless staple, has undergone further transformation this season, with a layered, textural evolution. Distressed and patchwork designs are key elements this year, as many Taipei trendsetters choose denim pieces with varying shades of blue or with washed and distressed effects to create a deeper, more vintage-inspired look.
