UNIQLO, the Japanese clothing brand known for its simple and high-quality everyday essentials, is set to open its first store in Birmingham. The brand, which has gained popularity across the UK with 14 stores in London and locations in Manchester, Liverpool, and Edinburgh, will soon expand its presence to the Midlands. The new store is scheduled to open this autumn in the Bullring on New Street.
Paul O’Brien, Director of Leasing & Commercialisation at Hammerson, highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating, “Bullring continues to attract best-in-class global brands seeking a flagship presence in the region, reinforcing its position as the leading Midlands destination. UNIQLO is the latest brand to make a significant commitment to Bullring, reflecting the strength of our position, quality of the asset, and exceptional line-up of leading names in retail.”
The Birmingham store will occupy the former Zara location, a 20,000 sq ft site spread over three floors, with a trading space of 11,840 sq ft. Customers will have access to the full range of men’s, women’s, kidswear, and baby clothing, including UNIQLO’s renowned LifeWear collections.
Alongside the Birmingham expansion, UNIQLO has also announced the opening of a store in Glasgow, further demonstrating its ambitious growth plans in the UK. Alessandro Dudech, UNIQLO’s COO, commented on the development, saying, “Bringing the brand to the Midlands for the first time is a key strategic step for us, and Bullring’s prominent position in the UK’s second city made for the ideal location.”
