The Lakmé Fashion Week 2025 X FDCI finale, held on Sunday evening, lived up to its grand expectations, drawing the crème de la crème from the fashion and entertainment industries. However, it was Kareena Kapoor Khan’s show-stopping appearance on the runway that truly captivated the audience, as she took a moment to reflect on her fashion evolution.
“I do everything with my heart. Whether it was walking the ramp as a size zero, with Taimur in my belly, or as a size 10 or 12, that never really mattered. What mattered was my heart, my confidence, and the bond I shared with each designer I worked with. Thank you, Lakmé, for having me. I truly enjoyed my time,” said the 44-year-old actress, who stunned in a Manish Malhotra sari adorned with Swarovski and pearl embroidery, paired with a vintage French lace blouse.
What resonated with the audience was her heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes of the event—the people behind the scenes. “While I’m honored to be the face of Lakmé, 25 years of Lakmé Fashion Week is not about the actors walking the finale. It’s about each person who worked tirelessly backstage to make us look incredible. We owe it all to them,” Kareena continued.
She further acknowledged the designers, especially her dear friends and mentors, Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani, but emphasized that the evening was a celebration of everyone who contributed to making the event memorable.
Earlier in the day, Kalki Koechlin graced the runway in a white printed frock from Max’s Sicilian Summer & Amalfi Escape collection. Describing her outfit as embodying the essence of “escape and travel,” Kalki explained, “It’s all about the summery, light feeling you get when you go on holiday in Italy.”
Janhvi Kapoor’s dramatic entry also turned heads as she walked for designer Rahul Mishra. The Dhadak actress made a grand entrance in a car, with models posing as paparazzi to capture her best moments. She revealed her stunning black body-hugging gown with a thigh-high slit and sweetheart neckline, crafted from Bandhani print fabric.
Tara Sutaria and Veer Pahariya brought the spotlight to British fashion brand ASOS’s ‘A Summer of Style’ collection, presented in collaboration with AJIO. Tara’s all-black lace gown with a plunging neckline paired beautifully with Veer’s white suit and double-breasted jacket.
Tara shared her thoughts on fashion: “I love style and anything that suits my body type or the vibe of the brand. Whether it’s a lehenga, a sari, or a gown like this, I’m happy as long as it feels right.”
